Nigeria’s premiere luxury boutique hotel, The Wheatbaker, is at the forefront of contemporary Nigerian art with their robust and innovative art exhibitions all year round since it opened it's doors in 2011. It is with great pleasure and pride that The Wheatbaker presents its private art collection to the public.

There is something so refreshingly cerebral about Duke Asidere’s work. I think in his generation of artists – he is one of the most uninhibited creative intellectuals. His works touch on so many deep issues in our society, and his subtle use of headlines tease and beckon the viewer to walk up close to read the partly submerged text, and then step back smiling, when we realize the unapologetic message of the piece.

The Collectors' Series was birthed when about 35 collectors, curators, and senior artists met. They spoke about their experiences collecting art, exhibiting their collections locally and internationally, and the needs within Nigeria's artistic space. An overwhelming conclusion was the need to foster art appreciation locally, and to strategically invest in strengthening individual artists.
