Boluwatife Victoria Lawal Nigerian, b. 1995

Boluwatife Victoria Lawal (b. 1995) is a contemporary artist from Nigeria who paints intimate and conjoined portraits of people using swirls of evocative, moving colours. She studied Art and Design at The Polytechnic Ibadan, where she obtained a National Diploma in 2016. The same year, she had her Industrial Training programme at the Biomedical Communication Centre, Faculty of Public Health, University College Hospital Ibadan, where she was involved in multimedia production, photography and graphic design.

In 2017, Boluwatife was mentored by veteran Nigerian artist Akinola Ebenezer, who further exposed her to new figurative painting techniques. She continued her studies and in 2018 obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. She has been taken part in numerous art exhibitions and auctions, including I Am That I Am, Tiny White Wall Gallery, New York; Next of Kin, Thought Pyramid Gallery, Lagos; Life in My City Art Festival (LIMCAF), Alliance Francaise; Calabar Gallery Art Auction.
