Art X Lagos 2016

Civic Center Lagos, 4 - 6 November 2016
Booth 6

Obiora Anidi, Gerald Chukwuma, & Taiye Idahor represent a fresh perspective on the evolving African narrative with their fresh, bold use of materials and unapologetic commentary on socio-political issues. Anidi’s experimental sculptures created out of marble and colored cement rise out of a rich Uli tradition to stand proud like contemporary avatars. Chukwuma’s carved, burnt and metal clad wooden slats and tapestry of recycled materials reflect a complex mesh of culture and message. Idahor’s intricate collage and pencil drawings reflect Bini royalty and ancient African feminism.

All three artists present recent works at the maiden edition of ART X Lagos, West Africa’s first art fair, showcasing 60 cutting edge artists from 10 countries across the continent.

ART X Lagos is a new art fair designed to widen Nigeria’s connection to the contemporary art scene across Africa and internationally. The fair aims to provide the best insight into what the visual art sector in Africa has to offer to a wider local and international audience, and to encourage African and international patrons to visit Lagos.
